Whitespace were formed in 2014 to further develop the use of modular datacentres and offer a very cost competitive solution to the growing number of entrepreneurs and smaller companies creating and growing IT infrastructure burgeoning demand for edge computing facilities, more cloud resource, virtualisation and flexible working patterns.

The Whitespace Modular Datacentre solution has been put together by a technical team of many years' standing within the Datacentre (DC) market and Whitespace On Demand has formed a Management Team with expertise across the datacentre, IT and IT Infrastructure sector with a wealth of understanding in the build, operation and delivery of this type of business.

The company ethos is founded on a detailed knowledge of the DC market and a team that prides itself in delivering a robust, state-of-the-art, high-quality product.

... STRATEGY

The strategy of the business is to be the principal modular datacentre company over the coming years. We will achieve this by building a well-managed, flexible business operation that is the go-to company for modular datacentres. As part of this we will be using equipment (power, cooling, etc) and prefabricated build technology that is well known and respected within the market, maintaining a build quality of the highest standard. We will do this primarily in the UK and then use the same process to replicate the design, build and deployment to other countries throughout the world.

THE PRINCIPALS

GERRY STAPLEY Gerry is the Chairman of Whitespace. A chartered engineer and previously CEO of the Eaton Williams group which was part of Nortek Inc, a broad-based manufacturer of environmental control products and leading specialist in datacentre cooling. He has been at the forefront of datacentre cooling systems to meet all types of environmental challenges.

During his tenure at Eaton Williams, Gerry was president of both FETA and HEVAC whom he represented in Brussels on the EPEE committee as well as being chairman of ACRIB which represented all trades associated within the refrigeration industry.

Previously Sales and Marketing Director of Securicor’s Alarms and Security Division and before that was the Export Sales Director for diesel fuel system products with Lucas Industries.


GUY RUDDOCK


Guy is the CEO of Whitespace.He has held roles as diverse as CIO, Head of Operations in the finance industry and Director of DataCentre Development. He has extensive engineering experience and a background in major Oil, Finance and Datacentre projects and is very experienced in operations and business technical management. With a track record which includes a Queen's Award, multiple maintenance and operations awards and critical systems construction obtained in CIO and CTO roles.

Guy invented the first second-generation modular datacentre based on his knowledge of business technology and with Whitespace has moved this onto the third generation of modular datacentre design. Uniquely he has been involved in the design, build and operation of datacentres.


RICHARD LONG


Richard is Business Director and Manager with a proven track record over 25 plus years of developing, building and delivering multi-million-pound technology-focused companies. Key strengths are in business development (UK and International), operational management and computer technology (IT) across diverse market sectors. He has an in-depth understanding of computer software and technology in general. Projects have been seen through from strategy, design to implementation.

Very experienced in the integration of technology to control and enhance the environment of smart buildings, smart cities, the operational and technical development of physical and cyber (software) security. Typical market sector experience includes: Industrial Processes; Manufacturing; Utilities; Pharmaceutical; Smart Buildings; Smart Cities; Airport Infrastructure; Environmental.

As a Director of Whitespace Richard is responsible for the commercial, sales, marketing and business operational needs of the company.


TECHNICAL TEAM


Backed by a technology team at the forefront of modular datacentre technology, the team consists of experts in the field of modular datacentre design, build and manufacture through to deployment at the client's premises. Along with Guy they have been involved in developing an innovative and state-of-the-art modular design to meet a very tight brief driven by cost.
